                         Section A(1a-1c)      

Part 1 The analysis of the teaching material

This part is the first period of unit 9. The teaching objective is that the students should express different subjects in English. Besides, they should learn to use special questions guided by what. This period focuses on listening and speaking. It can play a foundation for the following language learning.本课时为unit 9 的第一课时,在本单元的教学中起导入作用。教学目标是让学生掌握并学会运用学科的表达方式 并且学会运用有what 引导的特殊疑问句。本课时主要以听说为主进行教学,为本单元接下来的语言学习和运用打基础。

Part 2 The analysis of students

The Ss have learned English for some years. They understand some words and simple sentences. Now, they are in Grade 7.So they can talk about their ideas about different subjects. The Ss can do some conversations by using these sentences “What's your/his/her favorite subject? My/His/Her favorite subject is... ".The Ss enjoy these activities in a relaxing atmosphere.

Part 3 The teaching objectives

First,  the knowledge objective :1 key vocabularies
 Math, science, P.E, historygeography, art, music, computer  
2 key structures 
-What is your favorite subject?
-My favorite subject is … 
-Why do you like it?
-Because it is…
Second, the ability objective:

The students can ask some questions guided by “what” and they can talk something about all kinds of subjects .
3. Third the emotional objective:

Tell the students to learn their subjects well and love their teachers .

Part 4 key and difficult points:

key point: How to introduce yourself and others when you firstly meet.

Difficult point: Enable the Ss to use the new words and phrases to express their ideas in daily life.

Part 5 Teaching methods

task-based language teaching method, communicative approach, video-audio method ,cooperation.
Part 6 Teaching procedures

 Step 1 Lead in  

Guessing and expressing    

Lead in with an interesting question: what is your favorite fruit? Show a picture of fruit in ppt
And then show the new unit:’ my favorite subject is science. “

Step2   Role-play  

(1)The teacher raises a question : How many subjects do you have at school? And then show some words about subjects in ppt. There are Chinese, math, science, music, art, and so on. 

(2) Play a game. Show some pictures in ppt and ask students to guess what subject it is. Students listen to the teacher’s question and answer the question.

Step3  Match the words with the pictures.

(1)Show 1a and ask the students to finish it.

(2)Read these words.

Step4 1b

(1) Listen and circle the subjects you hear  in1b. (2)Check the answer.

Step5 1c

(1) Show the main sentence structures in ppt :

- what is your favorite subject? 
    - My favorite subject is...
     -Why do you like …?
     -Because it is …

(2)Teacher picks up a student to read the conversation in 1c. And then ask (3)Students practice the conversations with their partners.  

Step 6  Make a report.

Make a survey and find out your group members’ favorite subject. You may use the sentences below.

- what is your favorite subject? 
    - My favorite subject is...
     -Why do you like …?
     -Because it is

Step 7 Discussion: 

Why do you learn so many subjects? Why do you have to study hard?

Ss think about that and answer this question. Then the teacher shows a poem and encourages students to study hard.
Step 8 Homework   

1Write and review the words.

2 Have more practice with your friends.
