Lesson 13 Seasons

Good afternoon , Ladies and Gentlemen !

My name is Lu H. I come from a primary school of Wang town .It’s my great honor to be here to present my lesson. I’ll try my best. Now, I will explain the lesson from the following aspects.

I. Contents

Today I am going to talk about Lesson 13 of Unit 3 , Grade 6,Hebei Education Press, Primary English.

II. Analysis of the teaching material

The theme of Unit3 is “Winter in Canada” .It mainly describes Li Ming's arrival in Canada where he has spent the winter happily with good friends.And introduced the climate, clothing, sports and so on in winter .And this class is the first class of this unit .It mainly let the students know about the different seasons have different weather .And we wear different clothes in different seasons .Enable the students describe the seasons and learn the common sense of life .This class lays the foundation for the teaching of the whole unit.

I think the intention of teaching material arrangement is: Students will master the basic vocabulary and expressions of the four seasons and introduce the clothes of different seasons with “put on and take off”through the study of this class . So as to achieve the purpose of autonomous learning and free English speaking.

So in this lesson ,I am going to set it to be five words teaching、two phases teaching and five key sentences teaching.By study of this unit, The students will be interested in learning English and enjoy the charm of nature.

In addition, the after-class exercises is not only highlight the main contents of the class, but also show diversification. Some topics can also be used to review old knowledge in a new way and consolidate old knowledge.

III. Analysis of the learners

For the learners, It is the fourth year that students are in sixth grade, and their English basic knowledge system has begun to form.They have the ability of simple English thinking .The students have mastered the words and sentences about the weather and clothing.In addition, the teaching content of this lesson is closely related to the students' real life.According to the 《 New English Lesson Standard》, the specific teaching objectives are as follows:

Teaching objectives

1. Goals of knowledge and skills

(1) Students will be able to aurally understand ,orally use, recognize and spell the following vocabulary: season, winter, spring, summer, autumn

(2)Students will be able to recognize, understand and use these sentences: Winter, spring, summer and autumn are seasons.

Winter is cold. There is ice and snow.

In winter, I put on my hat, scarf and winter coat.

In spring, I take off my winter clothes.

2. Process and method objectives

In the teaching, through games, video, situational dialogues and other forms to enhance the interest of English learning and cultivate students' ability to communicate in English.

3.Goals of emotional attitudes and values

(1) To cultivate students' love of nature.

(2) Through setting up the situation, we will keep the interest of learning English in cooperative learning.

4.Key points
Students will be able to aurally understand ,orally use, recognize and spell the following vocabulary: season, spring,summer,autumn,winter.Be able to use sentences introduce seasonal climate features and scenery.

5.Difficult points

Students will be able to recognize、understand and use he following sentences: I take off shorts and T-shirts. I put on my trousers and sweater. In real life, use English to communicate with others about the clothing of different seasons.

IV. Teaching procedure

In order to break through the key and difficulty of this class. Based on the physiological and psychological characteristics of the primary school students,such as curiosity, competitive, active, strong imitation and high performance, I mainly adopted task-based language teaching, situational teaching and multimedia assisted teaching. Under the guidance of teachers, let students organize their learning by means of perception, experience, practice, participation and cooperation, game perception, etc.

Teaching procedures and purposes of my designing.

Pre-class preparation : PPT、some leaves、some pictures of clothes、tape.I’ll finish this lesson in five steps.

Step 1.warming up

Before my class , I will play a video about the scenery of four seasons and have a free talk with them.

Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the students by watching a video and doing some total physical response.At the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.

Step 2 Presentation


First I will lead students to say “season” through the video. And lead in reading aloud. Then show four pictures of seasons. Ask the students three questions when they are looking at the first picture. The questions are:1、Which season is this? 2、what can you see in this picture? 3、How do you feel? Then we can say: This is winter

So as to lead to the teaching of winter. Follow me and read this word three times from low to loud. Make sure they can say it correctly. Next, say some sentences about winter. Like these:This is ______.Winter is_______. There is__________.

At last, I will give some gifts(fallen leaves)as their rewards to the best group.

Purpose: Through the pictures, students can master the word winter. And through the teacher's description, students can feel the weather characteristics of winter.Then lead the students to say the complete sentences.

Second, let the students guess the seasons of the other pictures.And teach the other three words through the seasons’ pictures in two minutes. Conclude the sentence “Winter, spring, summer and autumn are seasons”. Then work in groups and select a litter “teacher” to complete some questions.1、which season is it? 2、How do you feel? 3、How is the weather in ……? Then show their answers to all the class. At last, I will give some gifts(fallen leaves )as their rewards to the best group.

Purpose: To make the students actively involved in the classroom. Be the master of learning.

Third, I’ll ask the students to listen to the tape and encourage them to imitate to read and say. Meanwhile guide them pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.

Purpose: It can train students’ abilities of listening and reading.

2、Let’s play a guessing game.

I will play four voice: the sound of birds, the sound of rain, the sound of fallen leaves, the howling wind. At last, Gifts will be given to the best group as their rewards .

Purpose: Stimulate students’ interest. Let the students feel different feelings in different seasons. Enhance the impression of the four seasons.

3、Different clothes

First, we all know the weather is different in different seasons, so we wear different clothes in different seasons. Naturally lead to review the knowledge of clothing words. So now it is winter, what should you do with these clothes? Lead to the teaching of “put on and take off”. Then let’s act it when we read it. Write the two phrases on the blackboard. Lead the students say the whole sentences with “put on and take off”.

Second, listen to the tape and choose the right clothes in different seasons.

Purpose: Let the students practice the usage of “put on and take off”. And enable the students know different clothes in different seasons.

Step 3 Practice

Let’s do it. Open your books and turn to Page39.work in groups and write the answers. At last, I will give some cards (fallen leaves )as their rewards to the good students.

Purpose: Let the students practice to how to describe the seasons.

I designed this for key goals, in the process of implementing key goals. I mainly adopt the ways of group collaboration to reach the key goals. During class, it may occur some difficulty. For example: There is a lot of knowledge in this class. So some students may not master well. We will let the leader of each group help the other students after class.

Step4.Conclusion and Homework

According to students' autonomous learning.I will let the students to have a free talk”What did you have learnt today?”Because the students can combine learnt knowledge and new knowledge.In the process of summary, students can find the internal contact of knowledge. I design for homework after class, according to the law of the pupil cognition and active nature.1.Make a chant of four seasons.2.You can draw a picture or take some pictures of your favorite season, and write some sentences on it.

Purpose: To stimulate students’ interest of learning English and wide their knowledge about communication across cultures.

.Blackboard Design

Blackboard writing presents the key sentence patterns in this class, which can reflect the knowledge structure, highlight the key points, difficulties and intuitive images, and help to consolidate new knowledge and review the summary.
