说课的课题是高二英语必修五第二模块“the human traffic signal”。
本次说课分为六大板块:一、教材分析、处理及学情分析;二、教学目标;三、教学重点;四、教学难点;五、教学方法;六、教学过程
具体内容:
一、教材分析、处理及学情分析
1.教材分析
本模块介绍了一位普通志愿者Timoteo Apaza为了救其他人的生命,甘愿在艰苦的环境下充当路标的伟大事迹。通过学习本课文,引导学生树立正确的社会观、人生观,为日后走向社会作铺垫。课文重点介绍了La Paz地势的危险和路面的恶劣状况,以及Timoteo Apaza在那里的工作情况和原因。通过阅读,学生学习了新的词汇、句型,提高了阅读水平,并学习乐于奉献的精神。
2.教材处理
根据课程标准对于信息能力的阐述,本课采用把传统的阅读课与写作课相结合,采用多任务型、多方式、多渠道的听、说、读、写的结合,来解决阅读实际问题。
3.学情分析
高二的学生,经过高一一年的词汇风暴洗礼,基础还是不错的,对学英语的热情也很高。因此,要充分调动学生的积极性,努力激发学生参与教学活动的热情,使其积极思考,相互讨论,共同协作。
二、教学目标
1.知识与技能
(1)掌握课文中的生词、短语。
(2)提高学生的阅读能力。
2.过程与方法
自主学习与小组合作学习相结合,使每个学生都能积极的参与课堂教学。
3.情感态度与价值观
(1)通过小组活动提高学生的合作意识。
(2)激发学生热爱科学,树立正确的人生观、价值观,合理利用网络资源。
三、教学重点
了解主人公铁木特欧的作为人体交通标志的工作。
四、教学难点
让学生从整体上把握文章,训练他们做阅读理解的能力。
五、教学方法
根据高中英语课程标准、“整体语言教学” 的理论和实践,以及当前教学改革,课程改革的先进理念,为达到上述目的,拟采用如下教学方法:
(一)教法:
1.任务型教学法
开展自主性学习的小组活动,使合作、探究与独立思考相结合,最大程度的优化学生的学习方式,提高课堂学习效率。
2.多媒体教学法
利用多媒体展示相关图片,帮助学生用自己的话概括主要内容,提高课堂教学效率,增强学生学习兴。充分利用信息技术和网络资源,进一步增强教学的开放性和灵活性。
(二)学法:
1.运用不同的阅读技能如skimming, scanning and careful reading 对文章进行理解分析。
2.小组合作学习。
通过任务,促进学生之间的互动,激发学习的主动性和积极性,提供综合使用语言的机会。发现自我,调整学习方法,逐渐形成有效的学习策略。
(理论依据)以学生为主体,以学生发展为中心。
六、教学过程
  Step 1  Lead in
  As you know, everybody does a different job. I teach you English, so I am called a teacher. If we want to have your hair cut, we should turn to this person who can cut your hair. The person is called a barber. Different profession has different names. We can know more names about profession’s names from activity 1.
  First read the words in activity 1 on page12 and match the words in the box with their meaning.
The key:
1.electrician 2. miner 3. cook 4, biochemist 5. barber 6. secretary 7. accountant 8. businessman/businesswoman 9. policeman 10. volunteer.
Step2  Do with reading part. At first show some pictures about roads in the city/plain/mountainous area. Then the teacher says, “ If you we drive a car in the mountainous roads, especially in the corner, we can’t be too careful enough. In this passage, do you know how the mountainous area solves this problem? They depend on the human traffic signal. We can translate the title into Chinese. 
Step 3  Show the picture to the students and let them to describe the picture according to the questions and the title.
One example:
     From the picture, we can see the mountains rise steeply above a plain and there is a sheer drop on one side of the mountains. The coming lorry driver can hardly see the going lorry. So many tragedies happen every year, Then since one local man volunteered to direct the traffic, using a round board on one of which is green and the other red, the death toll has been decreased.
Step 4  Listen to the tape and match the headings with the paragraphs.
The key:

the road : paragraph 1
The reason why he does it:  paragraph 3.
Step 5  paragraph 1
Questions:
1)      Where is La Paz? It is in Bolivia.
2)      What is its altitude? Its altitude is 3,500 meters.
3)      What is the condition of the most dangerous road in the world?
On one side the mountains rise steeply; on the other side there is a sheer drop, which in places is hundreds of meters deep.
4)      When can the road be used ?
In theory , the road can only be used by traffic going uphill from 8n in the morning, and by traffic coming downhill from 3 in the afternoon.
 Step 6  Paragraph 2
   Where is the man standing? On a bend on a road in the mountains
   What is he holding? A large circular board
   What is the name of the man standing on the bend? How old is he?
   Timoteo Apaza is a gentle 46 year-old man who lives in a village near the most dangerous part of the road.
   What is he doing there?  He is standing on the bend and directs the traffic.
 Step7   Finish activity 4 Choose the correct answers.
